Donaldson uploaded videos to YouTube at 13 under the pseudonym "MrBeast6000". His initial content consisted of Let's Plays and video that analyzed the wealth of other YouTubers. In 2017 his "counting as high as 100,000" YouTube video went viral. He was 13 years young and had the handle "MrBeast6000". His first videos included Let's plays as well as videos on estimating the wealth of other YouTubers. Donaldson has enlisted a number of former classmates to assist him in managing the expanding brand once it was created. The MrBeast channel had 60 subscribers by 2022. It reached 100 million subscribers on July 28th, 2022.
